Protection of the climate and bio-architecture
Our roof has photovoltaic cells (south-south orientation), which provides 40 kW of electricity to the hotel. The average yearly production is about 45,000 kW.
We use our natural resources and are therefore independent in the consumption of electricity, water and heating.
Our gourmet hotel has been built in accordance with the energy-saving criteria of the low-energy house (Klimahaus):
- Traditional bricks and mortar (41.5cm sold brick)
- 12cm of thermal insulation, natural façade sealing, spruce and larch timber from local forests for the roofs and balconies.
- Windows with the best K-values, the terraces have been laid in solid timber
- Our hotel is heated by energy-saving wood chip heating (1 euro per m³ annually)
- Underfloor heating throughout (max. 30°C flow temperature)
- In addition, we use rainwater or rather our own source for flushing toilets and watering all our lawns (rainwater tank with a capacity of 20,000 litres)
- The complete interior has been made-to-measure in solid wood (spruce, Swiss stone pine, oak) by South Tyrol's best carpenters and fitted precisely.
- The landlady's good taste in carefully choosing all materials, lamps, curtains, flooring and all other details complete the picture.
- We have therefore made our contribution to environmental protection by exemplary building and careful use of material.
